Is there a specific type of barcode required for use with GS1 Digital Link?

GS1 Digital Link data can be encoded within 2D barcodes like the GS1 QR Code and GS1 DataMatrix, but it's important to note that a barcode is simply a "data carrier."

Other identification carriers, like NFC and RFID tags, can also be used in retail environments. Currently, many retailers utilize these non-barcoded data carriers, and either NFC or RFID tags can encode GS1 Digital Link data.
